Location: Aldermaston, West Berkshire (RG7 4PR). We are located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Due to the nature of the work involved with this role, there are very limited opportunities for hybrid working, and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will need to be able to and willing to work onsite at AWE Aldermaston for the majority of their working week.

Package: £28,420 - £39,000 per annum (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

We are currently looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician, to join the Radiation Science Group within our Physics sub-function.

This role is split between taking responsibility for the management of risk assessments, COSHH assessments and general laboratory administration (ordering supplies and components, arranging calibration etc.) alongside providing support for the assembly of diagnostics, test hardware, and supporting the fielding of experiments.

Key Responsibilities of This Role

Undertake specialist laboratory science support activities.

Proactively ensure laboratory capabilities are maintained as appropriate and available for use, as scheduled.

Ensure documentation for laboratory processes and hardware is maintained.

Prepare new documentation as required/appropriate for laboratory activities.

May be required to perform safety related roles, as required, including but not limited to: Competent, Nominated or Authorised Person Electrical; COSHH Assessor; Manual Handling Assessor.

We will need the successful applicant to demonstrate the following:

Significant experience as a laboratory technician.

Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multi meters, data acquisition systems).

Knowledge of laboratory processes and administration.

The following may enhance your application, but are not essential:

Experience with electronic circuit assembly and electrical cable assembly for bespoke applications.

Experience with fibre optic components and fibre optic assembly.

Maths/Physics/Engineering Level 2 or higher national qualification.
