Maintenance Engineer (Multi-Skilled with an Electrical Bias)
Employment Type:
Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours:
4 days on, 4 days off (2 days and 2 nights per shift)
12-hour shifts, totaling 42 hours per week
Salary and Benefits:
Annual salary: £50,000 (paid weekly)
Overtime available, with engineers typically earning around £60,000 per year
Overtime rates: 1.3x on weekdays, 1.5x on weekends
Pension contribution up to 6%
24 days holiday (including bank holidays, if asked)
The Role:
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial machinery on-site, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. The role involves diagnosing faults, conducting preventative maintenance, and supporting the production team with operational issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosing and repairing faults in equipment to ensure safety and operational reliability.
Performing maintenance on industrial machinery, including presses, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Participating in project work and offering production support as needed.
Machinery on Site:
Boilers, compressors, high-pressure and low-pressure systems
Steam systems, calendar mills, extruders, presses
Gearboxes, semi-automated conveyors
Motors (single and three-phase), pumps, and pipes
High-voltage systems
Requirements:
At least 7 years of post-apprenticeship experience (apprenticeship + 3/4 years + 7 years). Preference for experienced engineers with extensive industry knowledge.
Strong background in heavy industry manufacturing. Experience in plastics manufacturing, Arconic, or Smurfit Kappa is ideal.
Multi-skilled with a strong electrical bias and familiarity with industrial machinery.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings (tested during the interview process).
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, apprenticeship)
