Cubed Talent are recruiting for a Works Engineer to join our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Bingley. Our client is looking for a Works Engineer to join their current team to assist with machine maintenance.
Pay
The basic rate of pay is Between £15.85 & £16.90 per hour (depending on experience). Overtime, if necessary, is paid at 1.5 x basic rate. We also pay weekly.
Holidays
28-days annual leave including bank holidays. We shutdown the factory only over the Christmas period and a few days of this holiday are consumed then. Engineers are permitted to work (and save) bank holidays when the factory is running.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
• To ensure that all machinery and the factory building are a safe and efficient place to work and visit.
• To monitor, maintain or repair machinery to allow maximum production output and efficiency.
• Improve or replace machinery and processes to increase reliability, production output and minimise disruption to the business.
Hours of work
The normal hours of work for this role are 8.00 am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday = 42.5 hrs (This includes a paid lunchtime (30 mins) in case a problem arises). Call-out / out of hours break-down coverage.
Weekly standby/breakdown down cover alternates between the two engineers. Weekend cover is paid as an additional 8 basic hrs / week, when trained/safe to do so, making a total of 50.5 hrs / week.
Skills-
Mechanically Qualified NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical engineering Experience of:
• Mechanical engineer working with machine tools
• Gearboxes and drives
• General engineering
• Pneumatic controls
• Fire Alarm systems/Testing
Electrically qualified (Preferred but not essential) IE Regulation trained – 18th Edition ideal – associated controls General experience (including controllers/panels etc.) of:
• Single and three phase motors
• Inverters and AC drives
• DC Drives
• Heater and cooling controls
• PAT Testing Maintaining of other areas of the factory – planned maintenance and undertaking other functions to facilitate the smooth running of the factory. Also at times organising/helping to organise and coordinating/managing work by external contractors.
MAIN DUTIES
• Always Work safely, e.g. isolating machinery, erecting guards etc.
• Make personnel aware of any work starting or any other issues via shift supervisors and or others as necessary.
• Respond quickly to production machine issues as they arise.
• Ensure factory/machines/site remain safe to use or be around.
• Check and maintain machine safety devices, fire/smoke alarms and exits etc. at fixed intervals.
• Isolate any machinery/areas in an unsafe condition.
• Monitor/rectify/report machine or equipment access issues, e.g. guarding, steps, sensors.
• Plan, undertake and record maintenance to minimise output disruption.
• Plan any preventative maintenance with the works manager and supervisors to minimise loss in production time.
• Control/monitor the work of third parties/visitors, including experience and competence, to maintain personnel/visitor safety.
• Plan and ensure relevant H&S requirements and quality (BRC) checks are undertaken on time.
• Keep an organised, well laid-out and tidy workshop, equipment.
• Always wear the correct PPE for the job and use equipment in a safe manner (e.g. air).
• BRC – Come to work in a clean and tidy manner (clothing laundered, hair protection etc.) to minimise contamination risk to our products.

Alternating factory out of hours and holiday call-out cover. Other duties as required to facilitate the smooth running of the Company as required by the Senior engineer, Works Manager or Director
