We are currently looking for an Strategy Development Manager, to join our friendly Strategy & Development team based in Birmingham.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Strategy Director UK & Ireland the Strategy Development Manager, will be responsible for leading the Merger & Acquisition activity and projects across the UK in conjunction with the broader Global S&D function as appropriate.

•Market & Industry Analysis: Support the UK & Ireland leadership team with identifying M&A targets and origination process. Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, the competitive landscape, analysing relevant data sources to facilitate strategic decision making

•Portfolio Review: Work with the Strategy Director and business stakeholders to conduct comprehensive reviews of the business portfolio to assess performance, strategic fit and alignment with long-term objectives.

•Divestment Execution: Develop and implement divestment strategies to maximise value. Lead the process including market analysis, buyer identification, deal structuring, negotiations and transaction closing, collaborating with finance, legal and operational teams to ensure seamless execution and transition during divestments.

•Opportunity Evaluation & Due diligence: Assess acquisition opportunities to evaluate strategic fit, financial performance, risks and opportunities. Including evaluation of assets, evaluation of technical equipment of facilities potentially for sale, business plans, and the feasibility and profitability of operations from a technical, administrative, legal, financial and commercial perspective

•Financial Analysis & Modelling: Collaborate with the Finance team to assess the valuation and financial impact of potential M&A transactions, scenario planning to evaluate various deal structures and outcomes, ensuring accurate financial assessments and projections.

•Stakeholder Management: Work with the Strategy Director to draft the necessary presentations and proposals and prepare and review CRH valuation models to facilitate the approval process at CRH level. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating effectively with senior leadership to provide updates and representing the business externally.

•Deal Execution: Work with the Strategy Director leading the end-to-end M&A process for small to medium sized deals; from the identification of the opportunity to purchase agreement and signature, deal closing with the related stakeholders (shareholders, landlords, unions, local elected officials etc.) Prepare and manage comprehensive project timelines and milestones to track progress and ensure timely completion.

•Integration Planning and Management: Work with business stakeholders to develop integration plans to ensure the smooth transition and realisation of synergies post-acquisition. Monitor integration progress and facilitate post-acquisition reviews.

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Strategy Development Manager, will have strong technical financial knowledge and must have a relevant qualification such as ACA,  ACCA, CIMA and/or MBA with substantial relevant work experience, with the ability to apply their specialist skill set to achieve desired outcomes. You must be in possession of proven experience in dealing with large development investments and/or M&A transactions, combined with a background in industry or corporate finance. It is essential that you have a proven track record of financial modelling and business planning. 

•Degree in finance/business or related subject (or equivalent)

•Solid experience, operating at senior level within this field in corporate strategy or Mergers & Acquisitions.

•Demonstrated strategic capabilities with proven track record of identifying and executing deals and opportunities

•Knowledge of building materials industry a significant advantage

•Recognised as a strong leader with excellent collaboration capabilities and the ability to develop enduring relationships

•Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills

•Excellent market insight with knowledge of key industry trends, competitors, and emerging players

•Strong analytical, business, and financial acumen with an appreciation of the implications of decisions and their impact

•Agile and flexible, resilient, strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing demands

Lastly, but by no means least you should be a confident communicator, able to engage, build effective relationships and influence across all levels of the organisation and have experience of presenting to senior stakeholders.
