Our client, a leading utility service provider in the water sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their team in Chichester, working across sites in Hampshire and West Sussex.
Key Responsibilities:
Dismantling all types of mechanical equipment, such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and screens
Inspecting dismantled components, including taking tolerance measurements and assessing repair methods
Fault finding on equipment such as pumps and gearboxes, using specialist equipment provided
Repairing and refurbishing mechanical equipment under the instruction of the Operations Manager
Working on Water Utility, Power Industry, Food, Paper, Petroleum, and Government sites as part of a mechanical & electrical team
Removing and installing mechanical equipment onsite, including working at height, within confined spaces, and in sewerage and potable water environments
Adhering to onsite health and safety requirements to ensure compliance with policies and procedures for quality (ISO 9001), the environment (ISO 14001), and health & safety (ISO 45001)
Job Requirements:
Experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in dismantling, inspecting, and repairing equipment such as pumps, motors, and gearboxes
Understanding of onsite health and safety rules and regulations
Full UK driving licence
Confined space training or a good understanding of confined spaces (training can be provided)
Water hygiene training or a good understanding of sewerage/clean water hygiene (training can be provided)
Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team
