An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Head of Transport to join a well-established logistics business, leading the management of a dedicated road transport fleet and freight forwarding operations across the UK.
This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day transport activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving operational efficiency, and managing customer performance and profitability. With multiple sites and a team of Transport and Operations Managers, this position is key to ensuring smooth operations and strong customer relationships.

The Candidate;
Proven experience in a senior transport or logistics leadership role
CPC Transport Management qualification
In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and compliance
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of P&L management
Excellent leadership skills with experience managing managers and large teams
Strong understanding of operational performance, cost control, and service delivery
Experience in onboarding new customers and leading operational transitions
Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities
Sound knowledge of transport legislation and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance across the department
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies
High personal energy level and commitment
Duties and Responsibilities;
Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and driver regulations
Lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple transport sites
Manage customer P&Ls, ensuring profitable and efficient operations
Oversee contract adherence, performance KPIs, and service delivery standards
Support the seamless onboarding of new clients, ensuring all operational needs are met
Ensure operations run efficiently and align with all contractual obligations
Monitor and manage risks related to compliance, costs, and service performance
Managing relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
Providing leadership, guidance and support to the transport team to promote a positive and productive work environment
Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with regular servicing and repairs carried out as required
