Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Salary: £80.00 - £95.00 per day

About Us

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work closely with children who have complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and/or autism spectrum disorders. You will play a key role in helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs, ensuring their well-being and development in line with their individual education plans (IEPs)
Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment tailored to each student's needs
Use a variety of communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC devices) to support students' language and social development
Support students with personal care, mobility, and feeding, where necessary
Promote positive behaviour, offering appropriate strategies to manage challenging situations
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic care and support for the students
Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/carers

Key Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with complex SEND, in a school or care setting.
Strong understanding of various SEND needs, including autism, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities
Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children who require additional support
Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent, are desirable but not essential
Training in specific interventions (e.g., Makaton, Team Teach, or moving and handling) is an advantage, but training can be provided for the right candidate
