Job Title: Waste Project Manager
Location: Northampton
Rate of Pay: £400 per day Umbrella or £296.35 per day PAYE
Working Hours: Full Time - 37 hours
Type: Temporary Role - 12 Weeks +
Opus People Solutions are working with a local council to recruit for a Waste Project Manager.
Purpose of the job
Responsible for managing service projects and initiatives relating to harmonisation and development of the waste service, including their planning, monitoring and implementation and other tasks as briefed You will act as an interface for the service providing professional support on all aspects of the projects, ensuring efficiency whilst building great relationships.
Principal responsibilities
Report to the Head of Waste, managing service programmes, projects and initiatives of various sizes and levels of complexity.
To promote clear and visible leadership in a project management environment.
Manage multiple service projects and initiatives of various sizes and levels of complexity ensuring that the standard project management methodology is properly utilised.
Monitor relevant project budgets, in accordance with council procedures and objectives.
Establish effective lines of communication and build working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
Actively encourage and lead by example in terms of smarter working initiatives and promote the use of technology to maximise productivity and service delivery.
Provide project management expertise to develop and manage project plans within waste services.
Develop action plans and project timelines adapting as required often in a continually changing environment.
Be the key project link between the waste services team and a wide range of stakeholders.
Ensure that projects have clear objectives, monitor progress and develop reports.
To develop and maintain a broad knowledge of waste management services.
To deputise for the Head of Waste when requested at various meetings and working groups.
Develop project monitoring regimes and report on progress against key milestones.
Essential Criteria
Minimum of 5 GSCEs or equivalent including Maths and English
APM Project Management Qualification and/or Prince2 Practitioner with substantial recent proven experience of individually managing several complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
APM Introductory Certificate PFQ and/or Prince2 Foundation level with exceptional recent proven experience of individually managing several complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
Management Level 3
Programme and project level planning and people management including building rapport, motivation, empowerment, performance management and development and managing conflict resolution.
Experience of implementing business change and proactively pursuing continuous improvement.
Experience of implementing and managing large, complex programmes and projects through the full lifecycle.
Experience of implementing and updating resource allocation plans, including financial planning and monitoring.
Experience in monitoring and identifying risks, to plan and implement responses to those risks and respond to other issues that affect the change initiative.
Experience in developing, implementing, maintaining, and applying quality management processes for change initiative activities and outputs.
Experience of delivering partnership working with both internal and external partners.
Experience in working with local members and senior Officers advising on specialist areas of responsibility.
