Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Sunderland

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in live, customer-focused projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing gas, hydraulic, and process systems from first principles and producing instrumentation pipe-work schematics (P&ID’s), fabrication drawings, system designs, and GA drawings using 2D and 3D CAD packages.

What you will be doing:

* Concept system design, including circuits, pumps, tooling, and fabrication.

* Produce engineering calculations covering thermodynamics, mechanical design, material compatibility, flow, volumetric pressure, and power consumption.

* Develop P&ID drawings, bills of materials (BOM), detailed fabrication drawings, and general arrangement (GA) drawings using AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor.

* Ensure compliance with ISO standards, CE marking, PED, and ATEX/IECEx directives.

* Lead design reviews and liaise with customers to outline and finalize design concepts.

* Assist manufacturing with commissioning, both on and off-site, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

* Be prepared to travel globally for project requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

* Engineering-related degree (Mechanical, Process, or similar).

* Strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor).

* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

* Commercial awareness and customer-facing experience.
