Sales Manager - Sub-Contract Machining Services
Location: Home Midlands-based (remote, with regular travel to customers and the company HQ in Cornwall)
Our client, a thriving, well-funded, and ambitious sub-contract machining company based in Cornwall, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager with expertise in selling sub-contract machining services. This role is essential to driving growth, with significant potential for career progression for the right candidate.

The company’s facilities include £1 million in additional capacity, featuring advanced Matsuura CNC machines, positioning them well for expansion.
Recently acquired by a successful trust, this business benefits from ongoing investment and has a long-term growth strategy, both organically and potentially through acquisitions.
Role Overview
This hands-on technical sales role is crucial to realising the company’s growth potential. You will initially lead a small, dedicated sales team of two Sales Engineers, while actively generating new sales. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing new business by leveraging your industry contacts and networks to bring in new clients and build relationships.
* Managing the sales pipeline from initial customer engagement to closing deals, with a focus on promoting precision machining services.
* Collaborating closely with the Managing Director and Operations Director to shape and implement sales strategies.
* Providing leadership by mentoring and managing a small sales team and developing their sales skills.
* For the right candidate, this role offers a pathway to a Director-level position, with potential to lead the commercial side of the business.
Who We’re Looking For
* Background in selling sub-contract machining services is essential.
* Familiarity with high-precision CNC machinery; experience with Matsuura machines is a plus.
* Ideally, you will have active industry contacts who may be interested in outsourcing machining services.
* A strategic thinker with a commercial drive who is also willing to be hands-on in building new business.
* Midlands-based, with the flexibility to work remotely and travel regularly to customers across the region.
