Transport Customer Account Manager

Ideal Recruit are working with a leading 3PL organisation in Skelmersdale who are seeking a Transport Customer Account Manager to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. The primary purpose of the Customer Account Manager role is to provide comprehensive support to clients, ensuring the efficient and effective management of their transport requirements. You will oversee the daily transport volume needs of the client, ensuring that all deliveries are scheduled, tracked, and completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Take full responsibility for fulfilling the transport needs of assigned clients, ensuring that all deliveries are planned, coordinated, and executed according to client expectations and company standards.
Liaise with Distribution Centres and subcontractors to arrange and confirm delivery schedules, ensuring timely and efficient service.
Review, verify, and process invoices. Address and resolve any discrepancies or queries promptly.
Handle queries from customers, subcontract hauliers, and warehousing sites via telephone, email, and other communication channels, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of issues.
Work closely with the wider transport team to maintain the highest standards of operational performance, ensuring a seamless and efficient service.
Create, maintain, and update spreadsheets/databases for KPI reporting, ensuring data accuracy and timely submission.
Identify, report, and manage any issues or queries that arise, ensuring that they are resolved quickly and effectively to minimise disruptions.
Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role within transport
Proven track record of managing and nurturing client relationships, with the ability to illustrate examples of how you have successfully supported client needs and expectations.
Practical knowledge and experience of TMS, including STO and Order Management, to ensure efficient transport planning and execution.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for tracking and reporting purposes.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems, make decisions under pressure, and manage tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the role, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with colleagues and clients at all levels.
Understanding of transport-related costs, including haulage, demurrage, and storage, with the ability to track and manage these effectively.
Successful candidate(s) will be required to undergo a basic Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) Check.
