HW Martin Waste Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Site Manager to join the team, based at our Lenton HWRC
Job Title: Site Manager
Location: Lenton Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Redfield Road, Lenton Industrial Estate,NG7 2UJ
Hours of work: Full time, 5 days per week including Saturdays and Sundays, with 2 rest days in the week.
Rate of pay: £14.20 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications

The Role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Site Manager to complement our team at our Lenton Household Waste Recycle Centre and be responsible for the safe and efficient running of the day-to-day site operations.
This position is ideal for someone with a background in construction, particularly those who have managed small teams or held supervisory roles.
The role is hands-on, requiring you to actively participate and work as part of the team. You will need to manage your workload effectively, be comfortable dealing with members of the public and have good people supervision skills. Additional training will be tailored to the needs of the successful candidate which may include Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) and mobile plant operation training.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
* Ensuring the site achieves high levels of customer satisfaction, recycling, and operational efficiency.
* Delivering a safe and efficient operation through ensuring that safe working practices are observed and Health and Safety legislation adhered to.
* Ensuring that appropriate personal protective equipment is issued and recorded as required and is always worn by team members.
* Controlling, co-ordinating and supervising the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the recycling centre in accordance with Site Permit conditions and Company policies and procedures.
* Responsible for ensuring that team members are on site at their respective starting times and for allocating the resources of the team, against pre-determined plans, to ensure that targets are met.
* Inducting and training new employees, temporary workers and visitors.
* Ensuring that all team members complete their allocated tasks to the standards required within the contract and expected by the Company.
* Completing daily paperwork or tablet-based paperwork as necessary, ensuring all details are correctly entered and filed.
* Ensuring good communications with the Contract management team, including raising concerns where standards are not being met and being responsive to operational needs.
* Responsibility to ensure daily site checks are undertaken and reported promptly on opening of the site and that all machine operators undertake and report plant defect checks prior to operating mobile plant.
* Carrying out duties using a rubber duck plant machine as required. Appropriate training will be provided for the successful candidate if they do not already hold this licence.
* Undertaking or taking part in investigations for Health and Safety or HR related issues.
* Assisting and guiding member of the public
* Undertaking housekeeping duties alongside the team to ensure the site and offices are clean and tidy, in accordance with site requirements.
* Sorting waste to extract recyclables and maintain their quality.
* Assisting in the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction and site recycling rates.
* Creating and maintaining effective working relationships with management, colleagues, and site users.
* Reporting near misses in line with Company procedure
* Managing confrontation when implementing the acceptance procedures for the HWRC.
* Undertaking any other reasonable requests, as deemed necessary.
Key skills/experience:
* Good organisational skills and with experience of undertaking basic administration tasks.
* Ideally the successful candidate will have previous experience of supervising a team and be able to communicate work instructions in a clear manner.
* Experience of working outside and assisting the public, together with an appreciation of the working environment is preferrable.
* This role will be customer facing so good communication skills are essential.
* COTC qualification preferred but training can be provided.
* Experience of using heavy plant equipment such as an excavator/rubber duck preferred, although training can be provided.
