Description
We are recruiting a Service Support Officer (Reception) for a crucial role with a local government client in Southeast London. The service support officer will provide reception desk services, ensure excellent customer care for all visitors and callers, and deal appropriately with their queries. This role is significant as it involves dealing with children, young people, and families who face difficulties and sometimes present challenging behaviour. It also requires the officer to adhere sensitively and professionally to health and safety and strict confidentiality procedures.
Responsibilities
The Service Support Officer will play a crucial role in providing effective and efficient administrative support across the division and will be an essential advisor and system support across the children’s services department. Their primary responsibility is to provide reception desk services, ensure excellent customer care for all visitors and callers, and deal appropriately with their queries.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* NVQ Level 3, BTEC Business, equivalent experience.
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements - Criteria-to be Tested at Shortlisting.
* The ability to deal with children, young people, and families who face difficulties and sometimes present challenging behaviour.
* Knowledge of the nature and operation of the Children’s Services Department.
* Strong interpersonal skills to deal appropriately with a wide range of people in various settings, e.g. reception cover and on the telephone.
* An understanding of the principles of quality customer care service.
* Understanding of how to organise and prioritise own workload.
* A general understanding of the principles and applications of Diversity in the workplace.
* An awareness of health and safety issues within an office environment.
* Understanding and appreciating the importance of and need for confidentially.
* Advanced analytical and numerical skills and a demonstrable ability to work with complex datasets.
* Extensive administrative experience, including data input and retrieval.
* Experience in compiling and maintaining records and administrative systems.
* Experience in data cleansing and producing statistical information.
* Literacy skills to enable the post holder to produce high-quality, non-standard correspondence and take and produce Minutes.
* Numerical skills to enable the post holder to produce statistical information and contribute to statistical reports.
* Ability to resolve problems creatively and disseminate information.
* Ability to review and maintain administrative systems.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own and others’ work by responding to changing priorities and deadlines.
