About the Role:

As a Special Needs Professional, you will provide vital support to students with a variety of special educational needs in a nurturing and safe environment. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met, helping them to access the curriculum and develop life skills. Your role will be crucial in promoting the inclusion, wellbeing, and academic progress of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-to-one and group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), both in and outside of the classroom.

* Support students with personal care, mobility, and daily living skills where needed.

* Help deliver and adapt learning activities to suit individual student needs.

* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement personalised learning plans (IEPs).

* Foster a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that encourages students to thrive.

* Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and reports as necessary.

* Build strong, trusting relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional development.

* Assist with behavioural management strategies, using positive reinforcement to encourage positive behaviours.

* Support students during extracurricular activities and school trips.

* Participate in ongoing professional development and training to ensure best practices in SEN support.

About You:

* A genuine passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs.

* Experience working in a special needs school, or with children with SEN, is highly desirable.

* Knowledge of various SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and learning disabilities.

* A patient, compassionate, and empathetic approach to supporting students.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

* A proactive attitude and a willingness to adapt and respond to the needs of individual students.

* Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

* Ideally, a relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs or related field (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, SEN qualifications).
