Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Targeted Prevention Worker (Family Services / Early Help) to join their team based in Birmingham

PAY RATE: £20 - £25 per hour
WORK TYPE: Temporary

JOB SUMMARY
The Targeted prevention worker is responsible to offer a coordinated package of mentoring and coaching for those that are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET or at risk of other poor outcomes.  The team will work assertively and creatively to identify, engage and support young people to build the necessary skills and access the right support in order to make positive changes and find and maintain a suitable education, training or employment placement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
  
Delivering a targeted support service to a caseload of young people that are not in education, employment or training or are at risk of becoming NEET. This will include vulnerable groups such as young carers, young people with SEND, young people experiencing mental health issues, young people at risk of exploitation, young parents and young people in the youth justice system.
Delivering a variety of evidence-based, flexibly delivered group work programmes that will support vulnerable young people
Youth work skills of engagement to build trusted relationships using a systemic framework, supported by motivational interviewing skills, to deliver an intensive life coaching model of support that helps encourage motivation and confidence in the individual every step of the way to become engaged in Education, training or employment and demonstrate measurable outcomes.
To work across a network to help broker skills, education, employment and enrichment opportunities for young people and provide practical support and step by step guidance to help build a young person’s confidence and ability to learn and reflect.
Work with peer groups outside of youth service settings to co-design and deliver targeted work. This will be by providing street outreach sessions and delivering work in a variety of locations across the borough. Engage young people and their families with Youth services and Early Help services across the borough

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

A good standard of general education.
English and mathematics at GCSE level C or equivalent
Level 3 Formal IAG Qualification with the willingness to work towards Level 6 or another relevant qualification (youth work, teaching, social work) and significant experience of working with NEET young people
