Main Purpose of Role:

As the Trainee Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for guiding and supporting our engineering team to ensure operational excellence. You will work closely with both engineering and operations teams to reduce downtime and improve factory efficiency. Your role will also involve developing departmental systems and skills to meet the demands of our growing business, ensuring compliance with legal and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities of  Engineering Maintenance Manager:

Leadership and Support: Provide leadership, support, and guidance to engineers and apprentices, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

PPM System Management: Ensure the Internal Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system is continually updated and managed to maintain compliance.

CMMS Development: Enhance the current Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for effective KPI reporting, stock control, and maintenance scheduling.

Downtime Minimisation: Implement strategies to minimize factory downtime, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Engineering Solutions: Collaborate with Operations to deliver engineering solutions that improve factory efficiency.

External Contractor Management: Oversee the management of external contractors, including issuing Permits to Work (PTW) and ensuring insurance and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMs) are in place and suitable.

Capex Project Support: Provide support with capital expenditure (Capex) projects, ensuring successful implementation and integration.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with retailer codes of practice for the engineering function.

Machine Refurbishments: Plan and implement mechanical and electrical machine refurbishments to maintain and improve equipment performance.

Qualifications / Experience Required for Engineering Maintenance Manager:

Hands-on engineering background with a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems.
Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role, with a focus on career progression.
Proven track record in developing small teams and identifying areas for improvement in manufacturing equipment.
Experience with CMMS for maintenance, PPMs, and stock control, ensuring effective schedule management.
Knowledge of best practice maintenance techniques.
Personal Attributes:

Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet demanding deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
Proactive approach to reducing business costs and enhancing operational efficiency.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
