Virtualisation Engineer – Fintech

Hybrid – Glasgow 3 days in office / 2 days at home

Salary £55,000 DOE

We are looking for a Virtualisation to join our FinTech client.  As a Virtualisation Engineer, you will be essential in designing, deploying, and managing virtualised environments that support financial sector clients. 

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain VMware and KVM-based virtualisation using OpenNebula.

Perform lifecycle management of virtualised systems, including patching, upgrades, and migrations.

Support and deploy services and configurations based on approved designs and documentation.

Optimise deployments for performance and reliability.

Troubleshoot virtualisation-related storage and network issues.

Collaborate across teams for seamless integration and report any challenges.

Balance ongoing BAU support with participation in projects.

Implement solutions in line with documented timelines and priorities.

Identify and report risks, inefficiencies, or documentation gaps.

Implement solutions based on existing designs, escalating complex issues as needed.

What We're Looking For:

Expertise in Linux and KVM-based virtualisation.

Experience with VMware vSphere and related technologies.

Solid understanding of storage (SAN, NAS) and networking concepts.

Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving virtualisation performance and operational issues.

Proven ability to implement solutions based on documented designs and processes.

Proactive with strong issue identification and reporting skills
