Automation Engineer

Our Client is a leading UK designer and manufacturer of food processing equipment. They specialise in providing tailored engineering solutions to meet precise production needs, enhancing efficiency, and driving automation across various industries. With a strong focus on in-house design, bespoke manufacturing, and workforce development, they continually invests in advanced technologies and skilled talent to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions for their clients

QUALIFACTION REQUIRMENTS

Degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in PLC/HMI programming across platforms (Omron, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
Proficient in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams.
Skilled in configuring PLC/HMI software from various manufacturers.
Able to interpret schematics, assembly instructions, and electrical drawings.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to safe work practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement PLC and HMI software using industry-standard languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagrams).
Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
Participate in design reviews, offering technical expertise on PLC, HMI, and electrical controls.
Specify and issue parts lists and control panels compatible with PLC platforms.
Assemble and install electrical and pneumatic components as needed.
Perform site visits for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems.
Prepare technical documentation, including PLC/HMI code, schematics, and user manuals.
Compile electrical manuals and pre-sales documents for customer reference.
Test and troubleshoot products, reporting malfunctions to minimise issues.
Communicate project progress and issues with colleagues and customers.
Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) for automation projects, outlining system functions and user interactions.
