1. Undertake assigned audit assurance engagements of all the Council's functions, services and other operational systems (including third party systems operating within a shared service/partnership arrangement) in accordance with the approved audit plan and conduct these successfully from beginning to end.

2. Obtain and review the test evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well documented and are based on a complete understanding of processes, governance, circumstances and risks in each business area.

3. Ensure that working papers and files are completed to a professional standard so as to determine the extent and adequacy of the audit work undertaken and to determine the matters for reporting to management.

4. Develop risk-based audit programmes and testing procedures for assignments that are relevant to business needs, corporate and service risks and audit test objectives.

5. Identify and communicate any issues raised (including potentially high profile, contentious and sensitive matters) in a proactive manner, offering recommended and innovative solutions relevant to the business and risk.

6. Prepare high quality draft reports and proposed action plans for each audit assignment that are clear, concise and accurate and to co-ordinate post-audit review meetings with client managers.
