In House Costs Draftsperson

The Vacancy

We have an opportunity for an In House Costs Draftsperson, who has extensive experience in drafting Legal Aid bills. The right candidate must have experience of CCMS drafting and submission of bills, have a Legal Aid background with at least 2-5 years’ experience.

This role is based in our Family team, in the Bath office.

Key Responsibilities

* Preparing and submitting Legal Aid payments on accounts

* Processing High Cost Case Plans - drafting VHCCP

* Processing claims prepared by external cost drafts firm

* Complete final bills to Legal Aid Agency, claims assessed by Legal Aid Agency and Court

* To liase & advise with fee earners/support staff in relation to a variety of legal costs matters

* General administration of documents, including: photocopying, archiving, data entry and filing

* Preparing bills, costing files, and preparing claims for detailed assessment

* Work closely with other members of the team to ensure work is completed effectively and efficiently

* Ensure that all working processes and practices comply with relevant quality and service standards

Skills, Experience and Attributes

* Strong technical knowledge and experience of drafting bills

* Keen attention to detail and excellent numerical skills

* Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills

* Self-motivated to work independently and as part of a team with a ‘can do’ attitude

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills

* Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt and be able to process information using relevant software (databases, spreadsheet packages)

* A positive approach to working under pressure and to tight deadlines, in a busy environment
