British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processers in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this in to over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets.

Deliver specific Engineering based workstreams and projects aligned to our Engineering & Technology Strategy. Accountable for the robust operations of our Energy Generation assets covering People, Plant and Process developments.

Core Accountabilities
Through a people & team development approach - Identify & prioritise summary cross-site engineering reliability improvements in-order-to support the delivery of 98% overall engineering reliability.
Effectively identify, prioritise and lead relevant Industry 4.0 based workstreams in order to improve our technicians’ and engineering leaders’ working effectiveness.
Create an effective mechanism to ensure wider engineering reliability performance measurement enabling clear and actionable medium-term responses.
Create an effective mechanism to ensure engineering compliance measurement is clear and actionable.
Support the relevant use of Mobile working in order to support more effective asset management practices. (Enhanced Operator – I4.0 principles)
Ensure effective SME pillar leadership of relevant engineering leaders across the supply chain.
Effectively support the build and deployment of the Engineering Leadership Programme (with specific focus on use of core engineering requirements), lead by the People Team.
Effectively engage & communicate all relevant parts of the Engineering & Technology strategy with Engineering Leaders (at all levels) on sites.
Own the engineering succession plan across all sites from Apprentices to engineering leaders.
Overview and intervention of the Supply Chain - Essential Replacement programme.
Leadership role in the effective deployment of all maintenance spends within the supply chain.
Role model our business values. Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
Degree qualified or equivalent industrial experience in a core engineering subject
NEBOSH – Certificate
Have an in-depth technical knowledge of core engineering processes within operations and supporting services, relevant experience in a large-scale complex industry.
Has relevant commercial acumen gained through taking responsibility for activities with exposure to a variety of business functions.
Knowledge of practical engineering & technology equipment and solutions in an industrial settings
