Job Advertisement: Health and Safety Officer - Temporary Contract

Contract Duration: ASAP - 30th November 2024 (with the possibility of extension)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: £19.81 per hour (PAYE)

Location: NG24 1BY

Position Overview:

Proactively promote compliance in all aspects of health, safety and welfare at work and ensure the Council complies with appropriate legislation, regulations and professional standards in line with the Council's policies and procedures.

To provide competent advice, support/guidance, training and delivery of an agreed proactive inspection/audit programme linked to initiatives, work programmes and SLAs as agreed with the Safety and Risk Manager.

The main focus of this role will be on delivering health and safety services within the Housing and Environmental Services Directorates. However, it will also require work across a range of Business Units.

Provide technical and operational support to the Health & Safety Officer

Responsibilities:

To provide advice and support to staff on this project.
To undertake risk assessments.
To undertake administrative tasks, such as arranging meetings and coordinating attendees for training.
To undertake actions identified for Corporate Health and Safety regarding this project.
To undertake any other activities required to support Corporate Health and Safety in meeting its responsibilities.
Regular inspections should be conducted to identify potential health and safety hazards.
Collaborate with management to develop and implement effective safety policies and procedures.
Perform risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report findings to management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Deliver training and awareness programs to staff on health and safety matters.
Provide expert advice to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Foster a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization.Qualifications:

NEBOSH General Certificate in occupational health and safety and /or NEBOSH Construction Certificate
IOSH Technical Membership Grade
Fire Safety Qualification
RPE Face Fit Testing
Experience in 'face fit' testing
Experience working in a safety role within a construction and/or housing function
Experience in providing safety support and advice in a functionally diverse organisation
