One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Grounds Operative on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week.
Overview:
* To undertake work in public parks, schools, playing fields, landscaped areas and similar open spaces.
* Provision of high-quality grounds maintenance service and the achievement of its objectives through the optimum application of the allocated resources.
Responsibilities:
* General maintenance of allocated areas e.g., grass cutting, hedge trimming, and maintenance of sports areas in accordance with approved specification.
* Undertake basic setting out and marking of sports areas and upkeep of artificial / synthetic / natural pitches. Undertake activities utilising craft skills e.g., interpretation of plans, site preparation and construction.
* Cleaning e.g., public buildings such as changing rooms and toilets, parks, playgrounds, and open spaces.
* Have a working knowledge on how to apply pesticides in the proper manner in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and current legislation.
* Work with minimal supervision and accept responsibility for the direction of the work of trainees and other employees assigned to them.
* Use of handheld and powered vibrating hand tools and light plant including the operation of tractors and tractor-mounted equipment as required.
* Ensure works are undertaken at all times in accordance with Departmental Health & safety Policy, any specific safe systems of work, and in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
* Ensure that all plant and machinery to be used is in a road worthy and good working order and that all safety guards are fitted if applicable.
* Undertake visual inspection of playground equipment located within a park and record in accordance with the Authority’s Playground Inspection Policy.
* Undertake work as instructed within any service department of Environment Departmennt.
