SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Tonbridge, Kent

Position: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN school. As a SEND TA, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with special educational needs and disabilities. Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Learning:

*

Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance of the headteacher, SENCO, and class teachers.

*

Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning and ensure comprehension.

*

Adapt teaching materials to meet individual student needs.

Individualized Support:

*

Offer personalized assistance to students with diverse needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioral challenges.

*

Help implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs).

Classroom Management:

*

Assist in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

*

Support students in managing their behavior and emotions.

*

Communication:

*

Liaise with parents, caregivers, and professionals involved in the students' education and well-being.

*

Maintain clear and open communication with teaching staff regarding student progress and any arising issues.

Administrative Tasks:

*

Assist in preparing teaching materials and classroom resources.

*

Keep accurate records of student progress and activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

*

Relevant qualification in special education or teaching assistance desirable.

*

Additional certifications or training in special educational needs are advantageous.

*

Training can be provided.

Experience:

*

Previous experience working with children, especially those with special educational needs.

*

Understanding of different special educational needs and strategies to support them.

Skills:

*

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

*

Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

*

Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
