The service you will work in….

The Good Energy Club is a physical activity project for those with a mental health condition or low level of wellbeing (i.e. stress, anxiety etc.) who are aged 18 or over and live in the Kingston borough. 

A day in this role looks like….

As a Co-ordinator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

Be the single point of contact for all volunteers engaged with the Good Energy Club.

Arranging and coordinating the monthly Good Energy Club physical activity timetable

Attend all Good Energy Club activities to support members and volunteers

Standardise the volunteering experience by implementing the organisational Volunteer Strategy locally.

Drawing on best practice within Hestia's Central Volunteering Team, ensure that local staff are familiar with Hestia's Volunteer guidance including sharing best practice and celebrating achievements, preparing Volunteer Role Description templates and circulating minimum standards for volunteers participating in the service.

Lead on the recruitment of Volunteers, including identifying and recruiting volunteers and progressing relevant reference and DBS checks.

Work closely with the Hestia Volunteer Coordinator and Hestia's Marketing Team to develop marketing and communication materials targeted at volunteers, e.g. Volunteers Handbook.

Ensure volunteers are effectively supported

Develop a local volunteering database to record and monitor volunteering outcomes.

Work with the Service Manager and Hestia's Fundraising Team to develop funding proposals to secure additional funding for the volunteering element of the services.

To develop and implement a varied weekly timetable of groups and activities for members which promote physical activity. These will be a combination of externally facilitated and directly delivered groups.

Experience in delivering sports to a wide range of users.

Experience of working with clients who have mental health issues.

Experience of managing a steering group.

Self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative, able to develop existing strategies and implement policies already in place.

Experience of working within a staff team delivering a service to residents.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Awareness of the needs of residents with mental health issues.

Ability to write reports and produce statistical records.

Excellent record keeping and administrative skills.

Experience of providing a service to a geographically dispersed housing stock.

Excellent time management skills.

Flexibility and willingness to work ‘hands-on' if the need arises.
