Nelson Permanent Placements are working with our client who are a UK leading M&E contractor who offer full MEP solutions to their vastly growing client base Nationwide. Our client delivers projects across various sectors, including industrial, commercial, defence, nuclear, government and education.

Due to growth within the business our client is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. The Electrical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with our clients, project managers/engineers and estimators to understand their requirements and develop innovative solutions.

You will be responsible for performing load calculations, equipment selection and co-ordinating with other trades to ensure us delivery an optimal system performance. In addition, you will be involved in reviewing external design solutions and will be required to conduction site inspections and provide technical support.

Responsibilities

* Design and develop Electrical systems for industrial and commercial premises.

* Design calculations including selection of equipment, lighting, cable sizing, maximum demand, containment, lifecycle etc.

* Assist the estimating team by sourcing quotations from suppliers and vetting quotations for compliance with employer’s requirement, specifications, and standards etc.

* Technical support for the project teams

* Stay up to date with the latest regulations and standards and merging technologies.

* Review design and specifications for accuracy and compliance.

* Co-ordinate with clients, architects, and project teams

Qualifications:

* HND in Electrical Engineering

* Proficient using CAD/Revit

* Proficient in Trimble design software

* Lighting design

Skills:

* Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

* Strong knowledge of regulations and building codes.

* Problem Solving

* Analytical thinking

* Communication

* Collaborative working

* Professional membership would be advantageous.
