This role will be to support regional business units, senior management and global intelligence function by research, analyses, reporting on economic and political issues that could impact business activities within Europe region, in terms of both risks and opportunities, providing relevant reports, briefings and more.
This position requires fluent Japanese - ESSENTIAL for this role and team.
Monitor, research and analyse economic and political events and trends, including foreign affairs, within the EU and wider Europe region
Share intelligence regarding economic and political events and trends, as well as country risk issues with relevant stakeholders (regional business units, senior management and the global intelligence function.) to facilitate business in the Europe region
In relation to the above, collaborate with relevant departments of Tokyo HQ and other 'global intelligence' teams around the world, including the Middle East and Washington
Develop and coordinate an information network with external entities such as think-tanks, universities, governmental institutions and embassies within the Europe region to facilitate business activities
Attend external seminars or symposiums across the region to collect information and develop an information network
Visit countries throughout the Europe region and beyond to collect information and extend the company's information gathering network
Manage and help to develop the potential of the department in Brussels and London

Overseas travel
Advisory international relations as well as research analysis and European regulations - Green deal, Battery, Energy, Hydrogen
Japanese skills language along with English essential for this role and team.
Essential for this role:
Significant experience working at a senior level in a think-tank or research department, such as in a global industrial or financial institution
Fluent in English and Japanese - Will collaborate closely with Tokyo - as reporting will also need to be produced in Japanese.
Writing analytical research reports
Experience in managing a team at various levels.
A Master's Degree or above in an Economics or International Relations related field
Excellent communication, collaboration and networking skills at all levels
Good level of economic, political, international relations and business analytical skills
Excellent presentation skills (Microsoft Office skills to prepare political and economic reports, including creating graphs and other graphics and also have data manipulation skills, such as when producing a graph including economic data. Present regularly to senior management c. once each month)
Logical and critical thinking
Budgeting and/or cost control experience
Able to travel regularly within the Europe region or other regions and engage with a wide range of business stakeholders
Comfortable and competent in dealing with senior management and with public speaking
