We are seeking an individual to join the team at William Thompson and Son in Dumbarton as a Recycling Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the recycling and Landfill facility, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Recycling Manager will report to the Operations Manager and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that our operations are optimised.

Responsibilities:

* Manage the health and safety onsite and be proficient in the creation and completion of Methods statements, risk assessments and all other associated health and safety paperwork.

* Ensure that all quarry regulations and PPC requirements are adhered to.

* Maintain records and ensure that all paperwork is completed as per the requirements of the PPC.

* Monitor all areas of the wash plant and landfill to ensure that extraction and processing is carried out to the highest standard.

* Undertake regular site inspections and risk assessments.

* Manage the production process to ensure required outputs are met in a safe and efficient manner.

* Perform quality control checks on production.

* Alter wash plant production in accordance with sales requirements.

* Liaise with office to co-ordinate deliveries.

* Ensure daily plant checks and preventative maintenance are carried out.

* Ensure equipment defective procedures are communicated to the correct personnel and monitor progress of repairs.

* Liaise with in-house engineers and external contractors to ensure repairs are carried out in a safe manner and timely fashion.

* Ensure that a suitable inventory of spares is available on site.

* Report daily all aspects of the wash plant operations through completion of daily wash plant reports to be emailed at the end of each day to senior management.

* Manage staff and deal with any technical or staffing challenges as they arise.

* Provide supervision and training where required to ensure best practices are adhered to and report any training needs to the operations manager for consideration.

* Enforce where necessary the companies’ disciplinary procedures.

Skills:

* Strong level of technical understanding of an industrial environment

* Ability to work under direct instruction from senior management and ensure instructions are carried out in a timely fashion.

* Experience in managing a workforce including but not limited to, delegating work, creating and managing rotas, managing employee timekeeping and attendance.

* Establishing individual roles for staff members including development opportunities and training

* Excellent communication skills

* Leadership qualities & team building skills.

* Ability to think strategically and to problem solve.

* A flexible approach to work

* Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Requirements:

* Management experience within the recycling/waste/manufacturing/construction sectors or similar environment.

* WAMITAB qualification desirable.

* IOSH/NEBOSH qualification desirable
