We are recruiting for a Buyer to join a very well established, yet growing and dynamic global organisation within the horticultural market based at their UK headquarters in Ledbury. This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday 8am-5pm offering a salary up to £35k per annum based on experience with the opportunity to work from home 1 day per week following a successful 6 month probationary period. As Buyer reporting into the Procurement Manager working in a team of 4 others you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and cost-effective execution of customer orders, directly influencing the company's success with your efforts in cost-saving measures and supplier management being truly acknowledged and valued.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and lead supplier selection strategies and manage existing suppliers through audits and KPI metrics.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure sufficient cashflow, payment terms, stock holding, packaging, handling, and compliance.
- Conduct supplier visits and audits to maintain high performance.
- Perform quarterly supplier reviews, negotiating service and costs to meet company objectives.
- Create and support Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with suppliers.
- Manage daily system updates, vendor card management, and pricing breaks.
- Resolve invoice queries and conduct benchmarking exercises for cost efficiency.
- Plan inventory considering sales demand, stock safety levels, and cashflow.
- Introduce new suppliers following controlled processes, including QC and ethical audits.
- Draft supplier and service agreements, and maintain commodity strategies.
- Execute cost-saving plans where necessary.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years in a Buyer/ Procurement role or 5 years in a supply chain role.
- Understanding of Procurement code of conduct and global practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems like MS Dynamics Navision or SAP would be ideal but training can be given.
- CIPS qualification is desirable or the ambition to work towards this would be great
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and analyse data/ KPIs.
- Comfortable working under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full clean driving licence
