Are you a patient, proactive and emotionally intelligent Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting neurodiverse pupils?
We're working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Handsworth who are looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 3 with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), who is currently on the neurodiverse pathway. The role is full-time, long-term and offers the potential to join the school's pastoral team permanently in 2026.
Your role will include:
Providing consistent 1:1 support to a child with PDA in Year 3
Using low-demand and child-led approaches to reduce anxiety and build trust
Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals
Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning
Creating a calm, structured and safe space for the pupil throughout the dayWe're looking for someone with:
Experience supporting children with PDA, ASC or similar profiles
Qualifications related to mentoring, neurodiversity and SEN.
A calm, empathetic and non-confrontational approach
Strong understanding of neurodiverse needs, especially within primary setting
Excellent communication skills and team ethos
