Role:                Specialist Support Worker (Modern Slavery)

Based:             West Yorkshire

Salary:             £23,000 pa

Hours:             37.5 per week; Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with No On-Call

Duration:         Permanent

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days + Bank Holidays

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of survivors of modern slavery? Our client, a dedicated charity, committed to supporting refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence, and survivors of modern-day slavery, is seeking a Specialist Support Worker to join their new service in West Yorkshire.

About the Role:

As a Specialist Support Worker, you will be a vital advocate for survivors of modern slavery. Your role involves supporting clients in overcoming social, personal, physical, and mental health challenges, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

Synopsis of duties:

Working within a safe house and key working approximately 10 survivors of modern slavery

Assisting clients with accessing benefits, healthcare, housing, education, and other services.

Processing referrals from the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and inducting clients into the service

Supporting clients in developing daily routines and activities to help them integrate into the community.

Promote the service and ensure clients have access to all available services and working closely with a range of partners, agencies and service

Working independently in both office and community settings, adhering to security procedures and risk management strategies.

Handling sensitive and confidential information with care and professionalism.

Requirements:

Proven track record of supporting vulnerable children, young people and/ or adults either within an accommodation or community-based service is essential. Preferred experience of working with victims of abuse, trafficking, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, complex needs, offenders and/ or refugees

Understanding of issues faced by asylum seekers, refugees, victims of domestic abuse, and modern slavery

Knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, and community care legislation

Ability to speak additional languages, including sign language would be advantageous but not essential

Proficiency in using databases, MS Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

Ability to plan and prioritise workload, work autonomously, and handle confidential information

Enhanced DBS registered on the update service would be highly desirable
