Secondary SEN Teacher

A specialist school in Leicestershire is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teacher to join their team from April 2025 (or earlier if possible). This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to support young people with complex learning needs in a nurturing and forward-thinking environment.

The school welcomes applications from mainstream teachers looking for a new challenge, as well as those with existing experience in special education. A formal SEN qualification is not required, but a strong commitment to supporting students with additional needs is essential.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work with secondary-aged students, focusing on communication, independence, life skills, and social development, alongside core subjects such as English and Maths. Rather than prioritising formal assessments, the school aims to equip pupils with the skills and confidence they need to thrive beyond the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience in secondary education, with the ability to adapt teaching for a range of learning needs.

A creative approach to teaching, using interactive and practical strategies to engage students.

Strong teamwork skills, working closely with LSAs, therapists, and school staff to create a supportive learning environment.

A genuine passion for SEND and the ability to inspire and motivate young people.

Early Career Teachers with an interest in special education are also encouraged to apply, with a structured support programme available.

What We're Looking For:

A creative secondary teacher with expert knowledge of differentiation for students with SEND.

Someone who enjoys real-life, interactive teaching strategies suited to older learners.

A team player, who will work collaboratively with LSAs, MTAs, HLTAs, and the wider school team.

A teacher with or without specific SEN qualifications-we welcome all passionate educators!

Early Career Teachers with a passion for SEND are encouraged to apply, and we offer a strong support programme to help you succeed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience working with young people with SEN, preferably in an educational setting.

Understanding of EHCPs and the ability to implement interventions based on individual needs and targets.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and parents.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), an equivalent qualification, or training in Special Educational Needs.
