Job Advert: Sports Teaching Assistant

Location: South west London,

School: Mainstream Secondary School

Contract: Full time, long term (September 2024 - ongoing in first instance)

Pay: £85 - £95 per day dependent on expereince

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable Secondary School in the Harrow, North West London. As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students within the sports faculty and assisting in various other areas as required. This is a term-time only position, and the working hours are 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher, both within the assigned sports faculty and in other faculties as per the cover rota.
Liaise with staff to understand and effectively communicate the requirements of the assigned work.
Provide clear instructions and support to students, motivating and encouraging them as necessary to enhance their learning experience.
Implement the school's Behaviour Policy and keep accurate attendance records.
Assist the Curriculum Leader with administrative/technical tasks as directed.
Deliver small group tuition following appropriate training.
Assist with first aid in emergencies
Essential Skills and Experience:

Interest in working with young people and belief in their potential for success
Degree in Sports or Physical Education
Robust and caring disposition with patience and empathy
Ability to explain concepts clearly
Natural motivator with clear boundaries and a firm but fair approach
Confidence in dealing with young people aged 11-18 years
Well-organised and practical
Positive and caring attitude
Enthusiasm for and commitment to working in a co-educational, multicultural comprehensive school
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility in approach
Excellent attendance and punctuality record
