About:

The role of Financial Controller is a vital and senior role in the company and will have full responsibility for all of the accounting operations of the business and will supervise all accounting related activities and staff within the accounts department.

Duties include:

* Ensure all accounting records are appropriately and accurately kept, and compliant with accounting standards and legislation

* Overall responsibility for the finance department IT systems

* Collaborate with the MD, FD and HR Manager and external accountants to strive to enhance company processes to assure the ongoing integrity of the accounts and promote effective policy making and financial strategy

* Summarise budget trends, analyse deficiencies and report variances to the CEO, MD and FD

* Production of monthly management accounts

* Production of monthly WIP reports

* Production of cash flow and income reports

* Production of monthly project P&L’s

* Oversee and ensure the completion of the month end process, checking of all control account reconciliation's

* Check, process and submit quarterly VAT returns

* Review and checking of the weekly and monthly payroll, including overseeing payments of all PAYE, CIS and Pension payments

* Checking and signing off weekly and monthly expense claims, in line with company policy, raise queries with MD as required

* Deal with all VAT queries on sales, purchases and subcontractor invoicing, advise where required

* Work with Contracts Managers in relation to valuations, invoicing and contract enquiries

* Report on outstanding debtors, chase payments whilst maintaining relationships

* Liaise and work with external accountants and provide information as and when required

* Supervise, support, appraise and train staff within the accounts department and ensure coverage for all roles as and when required

Skills, Experience and Qualities:

* Fully qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE

* Construction Industry Experience preferred

* Understanding of all CIS and Construction industry compliance requirements preferred

* Proficient use of Microsoft Suite/Sage/Xero

* Analytical, numerical, problem-solving skills, ability to work to tight deadlines

* Strong personal and communication skills alongside confident leadership and management skills
