Job Title: Health Protection Officer (Food Inspections only)

Location: Northampton and the Towcester/Daventry hubs field based

Rate of Pay: Up to £50 per hour Umbrella

Working Hours: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Type: Temporary Role - 10 Weeks

Opus People Solutions are working with West Northamptonshire Council to recruit for a Health Protection Office (Food Inspections Only) to conduct food hygiene inspections and hazard spotting health and safety issues. The food hygiene inspections of Category A & D premises.

Duties:

To carry out statutory food safety at local businesses in accordance with current law, procedures, policy and guidance; within agreed timescales and occasionally outside of normal working hours.
Using problem solving skills, make decisions and take action where appropriate to ensure that businesses comply with the relevant law.
To effectively manage personal workloads and maintain accurate and comprehensive records/notes of activities carried out and ensure that they are retrievable.

Person Specification:

Understanding of the Food Law Code of Practice Competency Framework to demonstrate the ability to carry out relevant Official Controls i.e. Inspection, Audit, Sampling for analysis, Monitoring, Surveillance and Verification
Experience in the delivery of a range of Food Safety Official Controls detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice within the last 3-years.
Experience in the delivery of a range of the Health & Safety National/Local Priority interventions detailed in LAC 67/2 within the last 3-years.
Post-qualification specialism in food safety and/or health & safety enforcement.
Working in local government.
