Job Description

You will assist the HSE Officer to manage and maintain a safe working environment for all operatives, office employees, and third parties whilst adhering to all HSE management systems and adopting a customer-focused approach to the Client and their representatives.

You will learn on the job and will gain experience in:

Assisting the HSE Officer in the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly Client and Director reporting General Support Administration as requested by HSE Officer.
Maintaining and managing health and safety training and document control systems as part of the HSE team.
Assisting the HSE Officer to develop and review all documents comprising of Health and Safety management systems and regularly audit their implementation.
Assisting the HSE Officer in developing new policies and systems of work and other administrative duties.
Assisting the HSE Officer in ensuring all company compliances are adhered to.
Maintaining accurate records, analyse relevant Health and Safety data and compile reports in relation to company objectives and key performance indicators.
Booking Site Safety Audits with our Auditing Team. Collating and maintaining information and the Audit matrix to a high standard.
Encouraging the reporting of hazards and incidents/accidents.
Attending internal Health and Safety meetings with HSE Officer.
Any other duties as assigned.
Taking reasonable care of yourself and any other person who may be affected by your actions and omissions.
Adopting a positive attitude, cooperate, and assist the company in all aspects of Health and Safety, and the Environment.
Understanding and help to implement all relevant health and safety policies and arrangements based upon the policies.

As a SHEQ Apprentice, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll be inspired and stretched professionally, but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues, as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living, and the construction industry.

To help you settle into your role, we’ll provide you with a buddy from our apprentice population. They will have some great advice as they were in exactly the same situation as you not so long ago, and you’ll also receive a dedicated mentor who will help guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme to help you achieve professional success.

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Safety Health and Environment Technician Level 3 qualification with one of our training partners. You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as virtual workshops, learning materials, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

Qualifications

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have the following:

5 GCSEs at grade 4-9/A*-C including English and Maths
Good level of IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other Microsoft packages.
Good communication skills.
A UK driving licence (or be actively progressing towards obtaining a licence)
Be able to travel within the UK, including some overnight stays.
