Technical Director – Ecology Lead

On the back of strong growth in client base and new instructions, they have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director – Ecology Lead to work closely with the Director of Ecology to grow a new ecology and biodiversity team in the north, with offices already established in York, Manchester and Scotland. Being completely up front, ecology and biodiversity is a relatively new offering for our client, complementing their strong planning and design capability. The role will suit you if you are excited by leadership, autonomy and ownership.

The Role

As a Technical Director for the Northern region you will be responsible for all aspects of growing and managing a successful ecology business at a divisional level. Though you will report to our Director of Ecology, you will have the autonomy to drive change, deliver excellence and grow our client base in the regions under your accountability. You will be supported by the wider Ecology team which continues to grow throughout Cambridge, London and Norwich and you will be empowered to consider your resourcing needs to build success in the Northern region.

In short, your role is to build and lead a successful ecology and biodiversity team based in the Northern area (ideally based in York, however remote candidates also considered)

Qualifications & Experience

In excess of 10 years relevant experience.
MCIEEM / CEcol / CEnv preferred.
Leadership / management experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills.
Strong client management and resolution including the ability to present at senior levels and across a range of stakeholders
Excellent project management skills coupled with timeliness and accuracy.
Strong report writing skills and ability to quality assure colleagues’ work providing constructive feedback.
Strong commercial knowledge.
Exemplary knowledge and expertise of relevant legislation and policy.
