Job Overview

A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor – Mechanical to manage cost estimation, procurement, and financial control for mechanical installations on a major project. The successful candidate will oversee project costs, subcontractor valuations, and ensure cost-effective execution while maintaining compliance with UK (England and Wales) standards.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and procurement for:

* Fire Fighting Systems

* Sanitary Water Installations

* Cooling Pipe Work Installations

* HVAC Installations (Air Ducts, VRF Systems, AHUs, Exhaust Fans, etc.)
✔ Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQ) based on project specifications.
✔ Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier contracts for cost efficiency.
✔ Track project costs, variations, and budget reports to ensure financial control.
✔ Assist in preparing claims, variations, and change orders with proper documentation.
✔ Verify and certify subcontractor payments based on completed work.
✔ Work closely with project teams to implement cost control and value engineering.
✔ Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments.

Requirements

✅ Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
✅ Proven experience in mechanical quantity surveying for large-scale construction projects.
✅ Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and contract management.
✅ Knowledge of UK mechanical standards, codes, and regulations.
✅ Experience in BoQ preparation, contract negotiations, and financial reporting.
✅ Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Excel.
✅ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
✅ Valid UK work permit required.
