Position Summary
A leading company in the design and manufacture of special-purpose machinery is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Verwood team. This role focuses on the mechanical design and oversight of complex machinery projects, ensuring high-quality results that meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Mechanical Design & Documentation: Lead the design and detailing of special-purpose machinery, including processing stations, tooling, and machine bases.
* Project Oversight: Manage the mechanical aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and internal proposals.
* Component Selection: Choose appropriate bought-out equipment such as sensors, pneumatic cylinders, and linear motion products.
* Customer Interaction: Liaise with customers during design phases, providing regular updates and conducting on-site visits as needed.
* Problem-Solving: Address design and process-related issues promptly with decisive action.
Required Skills and Experience
* Mechanical Design: Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor Professional and AutoCAD for creating detailed mechanical designs and 2D layouts.
* Pneumatics: Strong understanding of pneumatic systems, including equipment selection and circuit diagram creation.
* Standards Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of the Machinery Directive and the ability to work with customer specifications and internal proposals.
* Experience: 5-10 years in a similar role, with relevant technical qualifications.
Desirable Skills
* Technical Documentation: Experience in creating technical manuals, FDS, HDS, and conducting FMEA.
* Project Management: Background in project management and machine safety.
* Robotics Integration: Experience with mechanically integrating robots into machinery designs.
Benefits
* Salary: £55,000 - £60,000, depending on experience.
* Holidays: 25 days per annum, plus statutory Bank Holidays.
* Pension: 4% employer/4% employee contributions
