We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Care Worker to join our team and contribute to our vision of delivering exceptional care.
Job Purpose:
As a Senior Residential Care Worker, you will take responsibility for leading shifts, providing high-quality care to the young people in our care home, and supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in daily operations. You will ensure that each young person’s care plan is followed and updated, promoting their safety, well-being, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision:
• Lead and manage shifts, ensuring all staff are informed of their roles and daily routines.
• Conduct supervisions with junior staff and provide ongoing support, guidance, and performance feedback.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including Children’s Home Regulations (England) 2015.
• Ensure incident reports, daily logs, and accident forms are accurately completed and submitted on time.
• Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Care for Residents:
• Develop and implement care plans tailored to the needs of each resident, ensuring a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment.
• Support residents in participating in social and recreational activities, both within the home and in the local community.
• Establish positive relationships with young people, challenging inappropriate behaviors and promoting positive conduct.
• Act as a keyworker for designated residents, maintaining contact with families, friends, and external professionals.
Home Operations:
• Ensure that the home runs smoothly and in compliance with health and safety policies.
• Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the home, encouraging residents to take responsibility for their surroundings.
• Manage petty cash on shifts and ensure medication is administered according to prescriptions.
• Oversee and contribute to the completion of daily records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Skills and Experience Required:
• At least 1 year of experience in a residential care setting with children or young people.
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff in a care environment.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - Essential.
• Understanding of the Children’s Home Quality Standards and Regulations.
• Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or emotional and behavioral difficulties.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
