Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience required for this position is experience in a similar position or 5 days in sole charge of a group of children in the last 5 years, must have British Sign Language experience.

The School and Role
ABC Teachers are seeking a dedicated and skilled Teaching Assistant to support a hearing-impaired student at a thriving secondary school in Selly Oak. This long-term supply role involves working part-time, supporting the student through their GCSEs, and ensuring they have the support needed to achieve their potential. This inclusive and high-achieving secondary school, located in the heart of Selly Oak, prides itself on its supportive environment and commitment to student success. Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support to a hearing-impaired student.
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and learning.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson materials and support classroom activities.
Assist with exam preparation and coursework, ensuring the student is fully engaged and confident in their studies.
Requirements
The successful Teaching Assistant will have;
Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary school setting.
Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) (Level 2 or higher preferred).
A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Eligibility to work in the UK and possession of an Enhanced DBS check on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to obtain suitable references, a valid DBS Check and hold the Right to Work in the UK (ABC Teachers do not offer sponsorship)
*All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
