Job Title: Food Safety and Quality Technician

I am currently working with a leading food ingredients company based in Hull, who is seeking to hire a Food Safety and Quality Technician. Key Responsibilities:

* Act as the key point of contact for technical/product queries from customers, liaising with suppliers to ensure requests are resolved efficiently.

* Support the maintenance and updating of Food Safety & Quality (FS&Q) management systems, including product specifications, technical data, and quality standards.

* Work closely with the FS&Q Manager to ensure all teams adhere to food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

* Assist with CAPA (Corrective Action and Preventive Action) processes, handling complaints, internal non-conformances, and supplier incidents, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

* Conduct internal audits, prepare detailed reports, and perform trend analysis to identify areas for improvement.

* Manage Supplier Approval Questionnaires (SAQs) and Raw Material Questionnaires (RMQs), ensuring compliance with supplier management protocols.

* Deliver Food Safety training across the site, ensuring all staff are up to date with relevant standards and practices.

* Collaborate with external Pest Control Providers to maintain site hygiene and pest control standards.

* Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are upheld and support the internal auditing process.

Deliverables and Key Outcomes:

* Play an instrumental role in assisting with BRC, ISO, Halal, Kosher, and customer audits.

* Maintain and update key systems like HACCP, BRC, and customer specifications, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

* Ensure all documentation is up to date to meet audit requirements, both internally and externally.

* Assist in maintaining the HACCP process to meet customer and regulatory standards.

* Ensure the timely and accurate completion of daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports.

* Complete audit schedules On Time In Full (OTIF) and follow up on all non-conformances (NCRs) and factory observations (FORs).

* Log, investigate, and address customer complaints to drive improvement and prevent repeat issues.

What We're Looking For:

* A solid background in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field, ideally within the food ingredients or manufacturing sector.

* Strong understanding of food safety regulations, such as BRC, ISO, HACCP, and customer audit requirements.

* Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

* Proficiency in analysing technical data, trends, and reports.

* Experience with internal auditing, CAPA, and maintaining FS&Q systems.

* Excellent communication skills to liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

* A team player who is willing to train and support other departments in food safety and quality practices.
