TeacherActive is thrilled to be working a specialist SEMH school located in Wakefield, that are currently looking for full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants. The settings provide additional support and an alternative curriculum for children & young people of all ages, helping them overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging in education.

The school are looking for several SEMH Teaching Assistants to support their Secondary site, working with young people ages 11 – 16 years of age. The successful applicants will have previous experience working with children & young people who have complex additional needs within a specialist setting. The role includes working with young people who have complex and challenging behavioural needs, therefore the successful Teaching Assistant must be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will:

Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or have a qualification relevant to supporting children and young people in education
Be compassionate and caring, and able to work well with children and young people with additional needs.
Have good behaviour management skills
