Our client is a hydrogen-tech start-up based in London, currently developing their novel technology for decarbonisation of hydrogen production.
They have just received significant funding to allow them to expand their team, including the need for a Senior Electrochemist.
Accountabilities:
* Characterize a wide range of metal electrodes for hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reactions.
* Investigate methods to enhance the performance and durability of electrodes.
* Explore deposition methods for catalyst nanoparticles onto electrode surfaces.
* Research corrosion tolerance of materials and develop corrosion-resistant coatings.
* Assist the CTO with the design, fabrication, and development of electrolyser cells and modules.
* Design experiments, pioneer new test protocols, and standardize operating procedures.
* Manage the procurement and organization of reagents, electrochemical equipment, and consumables.
* Report research findings to the CSO and CTO.
About the Candidate:
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* A passion for achieving a net-zero environment and enthusiasm for innovation.
* A PhD or significant industrial experience in electrochemistry.
* Strong background in material science, ideally specializing in metal alloys and multi-metal oxides.
* Proficiency in cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, and EIS measurements, with the ability to analyze and present results effectively to non-specialists.
* Expertise in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and presenting findings confidently.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with surface area analysis techniques.
* A proactive and self-motivated approach to achieving company goals.
Desirable Experience:
* Multiphysics or electrochemical modeling.
* Expertise in corrosion chemistry.
* Familiarity with high-pressure and high-temperature systems.
* Experience with density functional theory (DFT) modeling of alloys
