Legacy Strategies are looking for a Deputy Data Protection Officer to work with our Construction client in London.

Full Time | Permanent | Hybrid

Salary: £42,000 - £52,000 | Location: London or Birmingham

As Deputy Data Protection Officer, you will provide support to the Technical Services Department, including undertaking tasks related to the protection of personal data, privacy, and compliance with data protection legislation. This includes supporting the DPO in ensuring proper data protection and privacy standards across the organisation and within the supply chain, as well as providing proactive support and advice to minimise privacy risks.

Accountabilities

* Deputise for the DPO when unavailable, providing advice and guidance on data protection issues and making decisions on breaches and whether to report them to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

* Maintain and develop own knowledge and expertise in data protection and privacy practice.

* Develop and maintain expertise in the organisation’s privacy compliance management system to support the capture, use, and reporting of relevant business information.

* Develop and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective response to disruptions.

* Maintain familiarity and understanding of the organisation’s policies and procedures, particularly in data protection, information security, and information governance.

* Represent the values of integrity, leadership, safety, and respect, and support the Safe at Heart approach to health, safety, and well-being.

* Regularly carry out the following:

* Processing of Subject Access Requests

* Data Protection Impact Assessments

* Data Protection, Privacy, and Confidentiality

* Data protection and privacy risks, controls, and mitigations

* Secondary use and information sharing of personal data

* Data Protection training

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* 2 Years' of recent experience in a Data Protection role.

* Ability to deputise for the DPO, providing advice and guidance on data protection issues and making decisions on breaches and whether to report them to the ICO.

* Understanding of: Processing of Subject Access Requests, Data Protection Impact Assessments, Data Protection, Privacy, and Confidentiality, Data protection and privacy risks, controls, and mitigations, Secondary use and information sharing of personal data, Data Protection training.

* Experience in developing strong and effective relationships within and outside of the organisation.

* Experience working with regulatory oversight bodies like the ICO.

* Experience in interpreting and delivering best data protection practices; assessing and monitoring data protection impact assessments; and preparing and reviewing Information Sharing Agreements.

* Practical application experience of the Data Protection Act and associated legislation.
