About this client: Where to begin! Bhodi, 10, is super smart, very funny, a fabulous storyteller, an interesting conversationalist, emotionally mature, curious, creative, and always on the go, the list could go on… but at the top, is his self-governance and autonomy. Yes, he will require help with personal care and transfers, but he is wonderfully articulate in how he directs his needs to his SEN Support Worker, his mum, dad and twin sister. Bhodi and his sister are incredibly supportive of one another and like most siblings will have their ‘leave me alone moments’ but then will have their ‘twin thing’ where they can be found chatting away together and playing games. Bhodi has many interests, including anime and Japanese culture which he loves to talk about! Bhodi has Cerebral Palsy; he uses his walker in and around the house, and his wheelchair for longer distances. Mum and Dad share custody, therefore you will work in two households, both within a short distance of each other.
Overview of role: Bhodi has a busy schedule with hydrotherapy sessions, afterschool clubs, and play dates; he loves organising for his friends to come over and play and you’ll assist and facilitate him to participate in these activities. Typical duties will include supporting Bhodi with all his self-help skills, promoting his independence, school pick up and drop offs, light household duties, cooking nutritious meals, preparing snacks, and bath and bedtime routine. Bhodi does not require support during the night, the sleeping nights are only in case of an emergency and to be ready to start the morning shift at 6.00am. During the school holidays there is the opportunity to accompany Bhodi and his family on holiday. There are lots of local, outdoor activities available and Bhodi has access to garden space at both houses where can engage in activities. Breaks are provided during shifts.
Who this job would suit: You must come this role with gusto, an upbeat and sincere ‘want to do this job’ attitude. Bhodi’s team all use a creative and holistic approach and are dedicated to enhancing his developmental skills and enabling him to reach his full potential. An absolute bonus is creativity, eclectic interests, and a very good sense of humour.
What’s great about this job: Excellent onboarding and ongoing supervision. A warm and open-minded family, with Bhodi and his sister, very much at the heart of it. This will be an educating, fun and incredibly rewarding role for the right person!
