Operations Manager / Responsible Individual

Location: Medway

Salary: Up to £85,000 per year + Benefits

You will have vision and high expectations for what our clients children and adults can achieve. You will ensure each home you oversee is striving for the best outcomes and life experiences for our clients children.

You will oversee and have accountability for a group of homes, supporting managers and colleagues to ensure we are achieving outstanding outcomes. This will involve you registering as the Responsible Individual of these homes and having regulatory accountability. You will ensure these homes embed a consistent standard of excellence through clear values, processes and procedures. You will be required to provide oversight, strategic direction, safeguarding advice quality assurance and support. You should help the manager shoulder responsibility and muck in and help tackle the most intractable issues/areas for improvement. Above all you should have a meaningful impact on guiding the home to achieving excellence in all areas.

Some of the keys parts of the role are detailed below:

* To embed our therapeutic practice model and values firmly in the homes you establish and oversee.

* To ensure safeguarding is a priority within the homes and that practitioners are thinking broadly about how to manage risks and keep children safe.

* To review child protection incidents, missing incidents, and physical interventions.

* To monitor that the home runs smoothly and all regulatory matters are completed on time, every time.

* To ensure key documentation in the homes is updated regularly and is fit for purpose in helping to achieve the outcomes they are meant for.

* To assist managers and attend Ofsted inspections and to ensure we achieve a minimum rating of GOOD for all homes you are responsible for.

* To build relationships with placement officers and local authorities.

* To scrutinise referrals and ensure a thorough referral assessment process is followed to maximise the opportunities for our children’s success.

* To review and influence the performance of Managers and to have open, honest conversations that support their growth.

* Ensure that the home is managed in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

* Review care plans and risk assessments for each child, ensuring their individual needs are met.

* Ensure that all staff members have the training and qualifications to meet the needs of the children, home and our therapeutic model.

* Recruit, train, and mentor team members, promoting their continuous professional development.

* Collaborate with external stakeholders to secure necessary resources and support for the children.

* Meet business KPIs including occupancy and budgets targets.

* Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to continuously improve the standard of care and the children's living environment.

* Monitor and assess the effectiveness of care services and develop action plans for continuous improvement.

* Respond to any emergencies or critical incidents promptly and effectively, taking appropriate actions to protect the well-being of the children and staff.

Person Specification:

* NVQ Level 5 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce

* Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a Children’s Home with Good/Outstanding OFSTED rating.

* Evidence of overseeing several homes at once.

* Excellent safeguarding & regulatory knowledge.

* You will be an effective delegator, motivator and developer of people.
