This is an exciting opportunity to take managerial responsibility for the specialist garden sector of a highly successful and award-winning Landscaping Group. Their operations include a thriving commercial landscaping contractor, a garden building company that services the private residential market and 2 nurseries that sell to the public and provide the contracting companies with much of their stock.

The Job:

The Contracts Manager - Gardens manages all residential garden projects together with some of their smaller council and municipal jobs. They offer a Garden Transformation service that includes design advice, site clearance and all elements of Hard and Soft Landscaping through to completion. Much of their work originates from contacts and enquiries made at their 2 nurseries and they have built a good reputation for the quality of their work, delivered on time and on budget.

You will have end to end project responsibility from the initial client meeting and site visit, through pricing and quoting to scheduling the works, allocating labour and ensuring that materials and machinery is on site. You will be on site on a regular basis to liaise with your construction teams, but will also spend a significant amount of time office-based at one of the group nursery’s. You should have a solid experience in hard and soft landscaping and the ability to provide some design input for clients would be very useful.

* Ensuring that quality standards are maintained and monitoring “the client journey” from sale to handover.

* Liaising with the client, maintaining good relations and taking the final responsibility for ensuring that projects are completed to their satisfaction.

* Ensuring adherence to the companies Health and Safety policies and procedures.

* Resourcing and procurement of materials and developing relationships with suppliers.

* Day to day responsibility for the Operational Team, including training, appraisals and inductions.

* Responsible for the recruitment of installation staff

* Resourcing and managing subcontractors, developing strong relationships covering all disciplines within hard landscaping.

* Supporting the Senior Management Team in reporting financial performance and managing risk.

The Person:

You will have had experience in Garden Landscaping including responsibility for multiple installation teams. You will have a good understanding of Construction in relation to Hard landscaping and a reasonable horticultural knowledge. As a “face of the company” you will be professional, credible and eminently capable in your communications with both Clients and Staff.

* An effective Team Leader with demonstrable operations management experience

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Financially literate with experience of managing projects and resources in line with budgets

* IT literate with a good knowledge of MS Office applications

* An understanding of the practical, technical, financial and qualitative requirements of a garden project
